David just got back from Coachella and had this video to share of these amazing kids singing “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay.
“What a great example of how one man can make a difference their teacher is. He has really inspired these kids and they are so talented. Check out their blog at PS22 …
And if they ever want to sing with me, just let me know and I’ll be there…”
The Shady Lane theater opened in 1941, introducing the East Coast’s summer stock theater to the area.
Nancy Fike, administrator for the McHenry County Historical Society, thumbed through a collection of old comedy playbills Monday afternoon.
Frank Bryan founded what has been known by many names – from Shady Lane Farm to Shady Lane Centre – to build onto the restaurant he established in 1937.
In 1966, Fike added, the summer theater celebrated its 25th year as the oldest one in the Midwest.
“I was there probably in the ‘60s, myself,” Fike said. “It was really a wonderful place to go. It was a nice drive, and you were entertained. It was nothing real serious. It was usually lighthearted.”
The restaurant side was well-known for its fried chicken dinners, which originally were sold for $1. Ham dinners were 75 cents.
The theater was renovated in 1991, with occasional performances through the 1990s.
Popular productions at Shady Lane included “The Philadelphia Story,” plus its last known 1998-99 season of titles such as “1776,” “Oliver!,” “Guys and Dolls,” and “Fiddler on the Roof.”
Some famous actors who appeared at the playhouse include Jeff Chandler, Celeste Holm, Geraldine Page, and David Hasselhoff. Fike added that comedian Jerry Stiller also lost his first job there – when he was fired after one performance at Shady Lane.

David posted a few videos and wrote about his and Kimberly’s experience at the Coachella Festival yesterday.
“Last weekend, the beautiful Kimberly and I went out to Coachella in Indio, CA. It was hot, but we had an awesome time. We got to see Sir Paul McCartney perform LIVE and it ROCKED! We met a lot of cool people and had some serious fun. It’s an absolutely amazing time and everybody should check it out if you get the chance!”
Backstage at America’s Got Talent in Chicago, David talks about the upcoming Gumball 3000 that he will be attending. Starts May 1st in Las Angeles.

Alert the media, alert the authorities – David Hasselhoff will be driving this year’s “Coast to Coast” Gumball 3000
Accompanied by his daughters, Taylor-Ann and Hayley, the Hoff will be joining over 100 supercars in the seven day drive from Los Angeles to Miami, which departs from Santa Monica Pier on Saturday 2nd May.
The actor, whose hit show ‘Baywatch’ remains the most watched television show in the world with over 1.1 billion viewers, waved the starting flag in San Francisco for the 2008 Gumball.
Gumball blogger, Georg Fecthter, convinced the star to join him on last year’s rally. As the Hoff’s godson, Georg was given one of the original Knight Rider KITT cars as a gift on his birth and, after spending $40,000 on restoring the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am to its original condition, entered the world famous car in the 2008 rally.
Unfortunately, KITT came a cropper with a broken fuel pump in Los Angeles just one day into the rally. Luckily though, the Hoff had already swapped vehicles to a more up to date and reliable Audi R8.
The star is still to confirm what he will be driving on this year’s rally. But you can rest assured it will be one of the most photographed cars on the route.

LookToTheStars.org was at the Children’s Hospital and asked David and Hayley Hasselhoff how teens can make a difference.
David Hasselhoff and the teens behind “The Bash” talk to LookToTheStars.org’s Michelle Vink about how teens can make a difference. Hasselhoff’s 16-year-old daughter, Hayley, is on the board of Teens Helping Teens – a group of teenage girls who have been involved at the Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles for a while and Hasselhoff himself went with them on Easter Sunday to visit some of the kids.
It’s almost our first birthday here at Hoffspace (or close enough anyway) and so we’ve decided to do a series of things to celebrate. First we’re going to do some great deals in the HoffShop. This week, and this week only, if you buy a HoffBag (see David’s Video) you’ll get this “I Got Hoff In Vegas” shirt for half-price. We’re also going to be picking an item of the week to go on sale or to give away to a lucky few (more details on that later!) in the days and weeks coming up.
We’ve also got a bunch of cool new stuff we’re getting the ball rolling on for the Hoffshop, so stay tuned! We’ll be sure to keep you updated.
