DavidNet Says Goodbye to Geocities

Monday, October 26th, 2009

g_type2bGeocities is where this site first started, way back in 1997. It sat there for about 5 years, through Yahoo! taking it over, and transfer limits. When the site grew too large for free hosting, it moved to dhasselhoff.net. Yahoo! is closing it on Monday, and I just wanted to commemorate all the wonderful years it gave me. I can’t find screenies of what it looked like at first, but XKCD gives an idea of what websites were back then. I had the animated gifs and the blinking, but didn’t really get into the crazy backgrounds.

Thanks for all the good times, Geocities!

“Ask the Hoff” Review

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Have a question? Ask the Hoff! In this application the Hoff acts like a magic 8-ball. David worked with Never Odd or Even in Los Angeles to record answers exclusively for this app. It’s only a dollar, and I love it. Some of them are so silly, but be careful.. don’t Hassel the Hoff and take to long to ask a question.

Works with all iPod touches and the iPhone. Here is a short video showcasing the app on my iPod Touch:  (Sorry about the audio; might have to turn your speakers up a bit!)

David Hasselhoff and Family to Star in New Reality Show

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Ever since we heard Hayley Hasselhoff tweet about signing a deal with A&E, we have been so excited for any news about the new reality show. I’m guessing it’s because of the popular UK shows “Meet the Hasselhoffs” and “The Hoff: When Scott Came to Stay” that USA-based A&E decided to get in on some of the action. However, a Rep for A&E says no deal has been signed yet.

I haven’t heard of many details yet concerning this, just that A&E are close to signing a deal. Representatives for the network have said, “We are discussing a possibility of doing a documentary series with David and his kids.”

TMZ reports that ex-wife Pamela Bach will not be appearing on the show.

Ask the Hoff hits the App Store this Friday!

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

An app for your iPod Touch or iPhone that is similar to an 8-Ball, except you Ask the Hoff for your answer will hit the App Store this Friday!

App Store:
iPod Touch
| iPhone
Also accessible through iTunes: iTunes Store > App Store

It’s a really simple idea and we won’t pretend it’s anything but – you ask a question, shake your iPhone or iPod Touch, and The Hoff will provide the answer. Throw in a gospel choir recorded in Dallas (courtesy of Chris Stevens, Creative Director at TM Studios) and a clean comic-book styling, and the result is a fun, polished app that will launch in the App Store for just 59 pence.

Unlike most celebrity-based apps which lift soundtracks from film and television without permission, the material is 100% Hoff and recorded exclusively for this app. We’ve worked very closely with the Hoff’s agents in Los Angeles – the benefit of doing things properly is we’re partners in this project with the man himself, so we feel we’re in a great position to take on the App Store charts.

This is big news for us – it’s a silly, simple app but we’re hoping plenty of people have fun with it, not only in this country but around the world. We’re finishing off a PR campaign for both online and offline activity, so you should hear more about Ask The Hoff in the days to come.

Thanks to Hayls for the link!
