An Evening With David Hasselhoff: Dates Cancelled, London Still Happening

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

Some of the tour dates for David Hasselhoff’s February-March tour in the UK have been cancelled with venue sites citing “touring logistic problems.” London is the only concert that will happen, according to David Hasselhoff’s Twitter:

“Hoff to Australia be back for the Evening with the Hoff LIVE SHOW at the Indigo O2 Theater Come party Hoofstyle!! March 2 one night only!!”

“The Hofficial Tweet! Buy tickets for An evening with DH tour now…http://www.kililive.com/artists/david-hasselhoff/. Dare to be there ! March 2nd Indigo o2arena”

This is closest official statement from David, and the “one night only” pretty much confirms the cancellations. The tour dates for other UK cities are still listed on the ticket website, but visiting each individual venue has them listed as canceled. We tried to reach David and his publicist for comment, but our calls and emails were not immediately returned. We did confirm a cancellation from Edinburgh directly. With the little information we got about the Las Vegas cancellation, this is probably the most we’ll see. However, we will keep you updated with any new information we get.

The Mad World of David Hasselhoff

Sunday, January 8th, 2012
'Self-motivation. Self-prayer. God's cured me many times in life,' said David Hasselhoff

'Self-motivation. Self-prayer. God's cured me many times in life,' said David Hasselhoff

By SIMON LEWIS

He says his new British tour will be a ‘hilarious and emotional ride through his life via song and dance’. If it’s half as entertaining as this interview, we’ll take a season ticket…

There’s a 2007 book entitled Did David Hasselhoff End The Cold War? I’ve just shown it to the man in question, in a chilly canteen by a north London canal. He puts down his plastic coffee cup and eyes it suspiciously.

‘Is it supposed to be a joke?’

Actually, no. The book makes the point that Hasselhoff’s 1989 song Looking For Freedom (No 1 in the West German charts for eight weeks) was heard by East Germans on the radio and became a symbol for what they didn’t have. Hasselhoff brightens.

‘Well, everybody made a big joke of it,’ he beams.

‘A silly magazine called the National Enquirer said I was upset there was no picture of me at Checkpoint Charlie. Completely fabricated. But as it turned out, I went to East Germany this year and they were saying, “Thank you for Mauerfall” – the fall of the Wall.

‘I thought they were kidding. But they said, “Do you realise that the first English words out of our mouths were ‘I’ve been looking for freedom’?

‘We were behind the Wall and we could not speak English, but we heard this song about freedom.” It was a psychological boost for everybody. It sold 11 million copies. One man can make a difference – that was the Knight Rider motto. And I did! I felt like a spy!’

It may sound odd for a 59-year-old man in a leather jacket, white vest and reading glasses drinking from a plastic cup to be holding forth about ending the Cold War. But you’d expect nothing less from David Hasselhoff: actor, singer, raconteur, talent-show judge, pantomime villain (Captain Hook at the Bristol Hippodrome) and all-round force of nature. We’re here because he’s touring a one-man show called An Evening With David Hasselhoff. Shall we crack on?

‘Crack on, baby! Crack on.’

What’s in the show?

Don’t Hassel The Hoff! – Interview with Welt Online

Sunday, February 13th, 2011
Thanks to Elmar for the tip

David was interviewed by a German newspaper today, Welt Online. Until I get a better translation, here is the Google Translator version. You can check out the original article in german here.

How to Hasseln the Hoff? Maybe with questions about the alcohol?

Two years ago it seemed unthinkable that he ever comes back to get away from the beds of the Betty Ford rehabilitation clinic in California. 2007, a video ended up on the web. We see how he wants drunk polish off a cheeseburger.During his appearance at the MTV Music Awards 2009, he had to hold on at the table. The star seemed finally settled.

Today he plays again, screaming in front of millions of fans, the main target group of women under 30 I’m 26th And get an appointment for a telephone interview. I catch him in the afternoon on the way from Vienna to Linz, his last tour stop before Frankfurt. He sits in a good mood in the car and eating Wiener schnitzel, he says.

David Hasselhoff: Hi!

Welt am Sonntag: Hi, Mr. Hasselhoff. What do you have to? Only for the idea, I can not see you at last.

David Hasselhoff: I wear a black shirt with a leather jacket over it and jeans.

World on Sunday: Fine. Inka Bause you know?

David Hasselhoff: Ink who?

World on Sunday: A German television presenter, who broadcast a lonely farmers hofwilligen verkuppelt in women. And since you soon will be owner of the farm …

David Hasselhoff: No, I have a farm in Hasselhof taken into consideration, but I’ve never been there. I’ve found out that my true roots are in Völkersen (a village in Lower Saxony, the editor). There came my great-great grandfather. And with the television channel RTL I did this a special program in which we have searched for Hasselhoff’s in Völkersen. And we have actually found people with whom I am related, great. RTL has the documents to prove it.

David Visits Völkersen

Thursday, August 26th, 2010
From davidhasselhoff.com

David visited the farm called “Hasselhof” today, which was named for the Hazelnut tree that stands near it. It was the farm where his ancestors lived, and he filmed as much as the fans did.

See photos on Hoffspace here.
