Vodafone Marks 30-Year Anniversary with David Hasselhoff

Vodafone UK marked the 30 year anniversary of the first mobile call on its network with an event in London's Covent Garden last week between January 16-18. They opened a little group of temporary shops on "1984G Street" in an effort to take passers-by back to the mid-80s, with contests and prizes. The venue was opened by David Hasselhoff and KITT. It included a mock-up of the first Vodafone store, featuring the 11 pound Transportable Vodafone VT1 handset, as well as the latest handsets. The Vodafone 4G Arcade allowed visitors to play some of the most popular mobile games on the big screen. The Spotify Records store offered samples of 80s classic songs and modern hits. TV will also be present, showing customers how they can watch on-demand movies on their smartphones. The event concluded with a gig by RUN-DMC and Raleigh Ritchie in London. It was streamed live to customers over 4G and on the Vodafone UK YouTube channel.Photos:
